What is DevSavr?
DevSavr — often shortened to Savr — is a free online clipboard and temporary file sharing tool for devices that have nothing else in common. Create a short-lived room in one browser, then join it from another with a readable code, QR code, or share link. There is no account, app, extension, or pairing process.
Text appears across connected screens in real time, and files become available as soon as they finish uploading. Rooms last for no more than an hour and delete their contents when they expire, so DevSavr is designed for quick hand-offs rather than permanent storage.

Sharing a localhost URL?
A literal localhost address points to the device opening it. Share a reachable LAN address and ensure the development server accepts network connections.
Three simple steps
No setup or shared ecosystem is required. Open the same room in two browsers and start moving content.
Open DevSavr on the device holding your content and create a room. You receive a readable six-character code such as A3K-9MP.
Enter the code in a second browser, scan the room QR code, or open its share link. The devices can use different operating systems or networks.
Paste text or upload a file, then copy or download it on the other device. Destroy the room when finished, or let it expire automatically.
A practical example
Create the room on your phone, join it from the laptop, and attach the screenshot. It appears on the second screen as soon as the upload completes. Download it, then destroy the room or let the countdown clear it automatically.
Clear limits, no surprises
DevSavr is built for short transfers. The important privacy details and practical limits are visible before you share anything sensitive.
No email, account, or sign-in is required. Transfers travel over HTTPS, and room records and files are removed when the room expires or is destroyed.
Keep the code private: it is the key to the room. Transfers are not end-to-end encrypted, and the creator's IP address is retained for abuse prevention until the room is deleted.
Creating a room writes a session record to MongoDB with an expiry timestamp and opens a Socket.io channel for real-time updates. Text stays on the room record; uploaded files are written to server storage and served as downloads with Content-Disposition: attachment. A cleanup job deletes the session and its files at expiry, with a MongoDB TTL index as a backstop. Connected devices need an internet connection because items relay through the server rather than pairing directly.
